How It Works

From organic waste to farm-ready feed.

Our closed-loop system turns local organic waste into high-value feed products in days. No chemicals, no imports, no waste.

Organic waste
Organic Waste In
We collect local organic waste including fruit scraps, vegetable offcuts and brewery by-products as feed for our BSF colonies.
Larvae grow
Larvae Grow
Black Soldier Fly larvae convert waste into protein-rich body mass naturally within 12 to 14 days.
Harvest and process
Harvest and Process
Larvae are harvested, dried and prepared as high-protein feed meal, ready for delivery to farms.
Frass to fields
Frass to Fields
The remaining frass is NPK-tested and bagged as organic fertiliser, ready for your crops.
What We Produce

Our products, ready for your farm.

Four products, one circular system. Each cycle produces feed and fertiliser simultaneously. No waste, maximum value for your farm.

Poultry Feed
Poultry Feed
BSFL meal for layers and broilers. Higher protein drives faster growth, better feed conversion and healthier flocks at lower cost than imported alternatives.
Faster growth rates
Fish Feed
Fish and Aquaculture Feed
Dried meal for tilapia, catfish and duck operations. Naturally high in lauric acid which supports immune health and improves FCR.
Improved FCR
Frass Fertiliser
Frass Fertiliser
Nutrient-rich organic fertiliser produced in every BSFL cycle. Improves soil structure and yields for vegetables and field crops. No chemicals required.

Our Facility

Climate-controlled
breeding and rearing.

Our dedicated climate-controlled breeding and rearing unit maintains optimal temperature and humidity for BSF colonies year-round, ensuring consistent, high-quality larvae production regardless of season.

This controlled environment means reliable supply for our customers and a stable foundation for our outgrower training programme.

Our Impact to Date

Numbers that matter.

Every cycle reduces waste, builds soil and feeds animals. Here is what we have achieved so far.

570t
Tonnes of organic waste converted to date
~855t
Estimated CO2-equivalent emissions avoided through waste diversion
100%
Zambian-produced. No imported inputs, no foreign exchange risk

CO2 estimate based on IPCC composting emission factor of approximately 1.5 t CO2e per tonne of organic waste diverted from landfill.

About Entomo Farm

Zambia’s leading Black Soldier Fly farm

Based in Lusaka, we convert organic waste into protein-rich larvae, fertiliser and farmer incomes whilst running training, educational tours and an outgrower programme. We are proudly female-led, founded by Priscilla Musenge.

How It Works

The circular farming process

Organic waste comes in, larvae go out and frass goes onto fields. The Black Soldier Fly turns a disposal problem into a production asset with a 12-day cycle and zero chemical inputs.

We also aggregate traditional Zambian edible insects including Mopane worms (ifinkubala), flying termites (inswa) and locusts from women and youth groups in rural communities.

Step 01

Organic Waste In

Food waste collected from Lusaka markets and businesses.

Step 02

BSF Colony Fed

Larvae consume waste over 12 days, building protein-rich biomass.

Step 03

Larvae Harvested

Dried larvae sold to farms and processed into meal.

Step 04

Frass Collected

NPK-tested frass bagged and sold as organic fertiliser.

Our Outgrower and Training Programmes

Growing with the people around us

Our outgrower programme creates new income streams for smallholder farmers. We train, provide starter colonies and buy larvae back at agreed prices.

We also work with NGOs, schools and other development partners, connecting insect farming knowledge with communities across Zambia.
