Our Facility

Climate-controlled
breeding and rearing.

Our dedicated climate-controlled breeding and rearing unit maintains optimal temperature and humidity for BSF colonies year-round, ensuring consistent, high-quality larvae production regardless of season.

This controlled environment means reliable supply for our customers and a stable foundation for our outgrower training programme.

About Entomo Farm

Zambia's leading Black Soldier Fly farm

Based in Lusaka, we convert organic waste into protein-rich larvae, fertiliser and farmer incomes whilst running training, educational tours and an outgrower programme. We are proudly female-led, founded by Priscilla Musenge.

"Turn food waste into affordable livestock feed and fertiliser and make that replicable for every Zambian farmer who wants it."

How It Works

The circular farming process

Organic waste comes in, larvae go out and frass goes onto fields. The Black Soldier Fly turns a disposal problem into a production asset with a 12-day cycle and zero chemical inputs.

We also aggregate traditional Zambian edible insects including Mopane worms (ifinkubala), flying termites (inswa) and locusts from women and youth groups in rural communities.

Step 01

Organic Waste In

Food waste collected from Lusaka markets and businesses.

Step 02

BSF Colony Fed

Larvae consume waste over 12 days, building protein-rich biomass.

Step 03

Larvae Harvested

Dried larvae sold to farms and processed into meal.

Step 04

Frass Collected

NPK-tested frass bagged and sold as organic fertiliser.

Our Outgrower and Training Programmes

Growing with the people around us

Our outgrower programme creates new income streams for smallholder farmers. We train, provide starter colonies and buy larvae back at agreed prices.

We also work with NGOs, schools and other development partners, connecting insect farming knowledge with communities across Zambia.

Key benefits
  • Up to 43% crude protein in dried meal
  • Lauric acid supports natural immune defence
  • No pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones
03
Frass Organic Fertiliser

Frass is the byproduct of our larvae process: shed skins and excrement that is NPK-tested. It contains beneficial soil microbes that improve soil structure and microbial activity over time.

For drought-affected soils, frass builds long-term health that chemical fertilisers cannot.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about our products, BSF farming, training and how to work with us.

No. Mopane worms (ifinkubala), flying termites (inswa) and grasshoppers have been part of Zambian diets for generations. We organise and quality-check the supply so these foods reach urban markets reliably.
Yes. BSF dried meal is safe, nutritious and increasingly recognised by Zambian agricultural institutions. We produce without pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones and follow strict hygiene practices throughout.
BSF larvae consume fruit and vegetable scraps, food waste and agricultural offcuts. A well-managed colony reduces organic waste volume by up to 80%, turning a disposal cost into protein and fertiliser.
Dried BSFL meal for animal feed, frass organic fertiliser, Ento Hook fishing bait, a BSF Starter Kit and aggregated traditional edible insects. We also offer training workshops and educational farm tours.
We run hands-on BSF farming training sessions throughout the year at our Lusaka facility. Sessions cover setup, colony management, harvesting and frass use. Contact us for upcoming dates and fees.
Yes. We offer guided educational tours for schools, universities, NGOs and research groups. Tours last 2 to 3 hours and include a Q and A session. Contact us to book a date for your group.
Yes. Delivery is available within and outside Lusaka. Contact us to discuss delivery to your location and we will confirm availability and timing.
Contact us and tell us about your land and access to organic waste. If it is a good fit, we will invite you to our next training. After that, we help you set up your colony and agree a larvae supply arrangement.
